Zooplankton are natural feed for many oceanic lifeforms, especially when they are young and vulnerable. In the industrial PhD project at Zooca titled “Benefits of Calanus protein products in feed and food”, we explore how protein from our own zooplankton species Calanus finmarchicus affect fish and shrimp in early life stages. We will include Zooca™ Hydrolysate and Zooca™ Powder in their diets and see if they grow up big and healthy, like zooplankton eaters do in nature.
The second part of the PhD is centered around the bioactive properties of Zooca™ Hydrolysate, where we will look deeper into specific components of the product and how they are responsible for the effects we observe.
